Challenge
(01)
Social protection systems worldwide often struggle to anticipate and respond effectively to recurrent and overlapping shocks, leaving vulnerable children and families exposed to deepening poverty and lost development gains.

Solution
(02)
I designed a comprehensive, updated guidance document and three Operational Notes documents that integrates risk-informed approaches into social protection programming. The layout organises practical tools, frameworks, case studies, and operational strategies to help UNICEF country offices and partners build more resilient systems.

Conclusion

The resulting publication provides clear, actionable direction for strengthening shock-responsive social protection, aligned with UNICEF’s strategic priorities and enriched with recent learning from global crises.
