Challenge

Turning complex global progress data into an accessible, visually compelling report that clearly showed EITI's impact on transparency without overwhelming readers.

The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) tracks transparency and governance in natural resources across dozens of countries, and the 2019 Progress Report needed to summarise key advancements. Like beneficial ownership reforms, contract transparency, gender inclusion, and anti-corruption efforts – in a way that felt credible, modern, and easy to digest. The challenge was handling dense information (country spotlights, stats, timelines, multi-stakeholder stories) while creating a design that elevated the content, stayed true to EITI's serious yet approachable brand, and met high standards for clarity and stakeholder appeal.

Working at Navig8 to craft a structured, data-driven design with bold visuals, infographics, and consistent typography that made progress feel tangible and inspiring.

While at Navig8, I contributed to shaping the report's visual language. Building on the core concept to create a clean grid-based layout, striking cover featuring key facts and figures, and dynamic double-page spreads packed with maps, charts, icons, and infographics that highlighted achievements across regions and policy areas. We focused on strong hierarchy, readable typography, and purposeful use of colour to guide readers through the content smoothly, turning raw data and stories into something that felt premium, trustworthy, and genuinely engaging for a global audience.

The final 2019 Progress Report became a powerful tool for communicating EITI's progress. From policy wins to country-level reforms in a way that was clear, visually striking, and emotionally resonant, reinforcing the organisation's role in driving accountability and trust. Working at Navig8, we created something that not only met client expectations but also made complex transparency work feel approachable and meaningful, leaving stakeholders impressed and providing a solid foundation for ongoing annual reporting.
